What is Physiotherapy?
Most of us hear the term physical therapy and wonder what physiotherapy is. The words are synonymous, however, physiotherapy is more widely used as an international term.
Physical therapy as defined in the dictionary is, “The treatment of physical dysfunction or injury by the use of the therapeutic exercise and the application of modalities, intended to restore or facilitate normal function or development and relieve pain. Also called physiotherapy.”
Physiotherapy is a very important part of treatment you receive at AZ Chiropractic. Most patients who suffer from pain will get greater results when treating the joints and skeletal areas as well as the muscular systems. At AZ Chiropractic, we use a more biomechanical and evidence based approach, concentrating on symptom relief through the function of healthy joints, nerves and muscles resulting in reducing your painful musculoskeletal conditions. Muscles are such an important part of getting the most benefit with your chiropractic care. Several patients at AZ Chiropractic have seen great benefits with their treatment with back pain, knee pain, shoulder pain, and therapy provided after surgical procedures. Your pain is usually a combination of things going on inside your body. That is why you will get the best results with adjustments, along with massage and physiotherapy.
In Arizona, Doctors of Chiropractic are licensed as Primary Care Physicians. All of our doctors at AZ Chiropractic have their secondary licenses in physiotheray and include this type of care in most treatment plans. In addition, we can bill health insurance for those services without a referral from your medical doctor. Although we are classified as PCPs, prescribing medication is not in our scope of practice. We are associated with Arizona Medical Management and have a medical provider in our office regulary who can help with prescriptions in needed cases.
